Jackie Wakeling
Background
Jackie Wakeling has been reproducing historical clothing since
1985. Many of the outfits that she has reproduced have won her
top honors across the United States. She started sewing at a young
age and by High School was making costumes for the Drama Club
annual plays. After graduating from High School she continued
sewing for Ice Shows, theater groups and private individuals as
well as her family. Jackie and her mother started a Bridal business
and she continued in that line of work for some time. She also
worked as a tailor and seamstress for local clothing and Bridal
stores. In 1988, Jackie and her mother, Monette, started Past
Reflections. Since then, Jackie has reproduced Historical Clothing
for customers not only from the United States and Canada, but
Germany and Switzerland as well. Also included in her clientele
are various Movie Companies, the National Parks Service and
Museums. Jackie has also worked as a living historian at
Wyandotte Historical Museum , Monroe Historical Society and
The Edison Institute. She also does living history with
3rd Battery, 1st Michigan
Light Artillery and the Michigan Solder's Aid Society.
Some of the other organizations that she belongs to include the
Costume Society of America, the North-South Skirmish
Association, M.O. M.C.C. and local Historical Societies.
Experience
Jackie has worked with many Museums, including the Detroit
Historical Museum researching 19th.century clothing. She has
also done some curitoral work for the Wyandotte and Monroe
Historical Museums. Many of the patterns she has drafted have
come from these collections, that of private individuals or from
her own collection. Jackie has been a guest lecturer for many
conferences and workshops. She also has presented Historical
Fashion shows for the State of Michigan Historical Museum, the
National Embroiders Guild, the Great Lakes Lacemakers
Group, local Historical Societies and Woman's Groups.
Interests
Collecting Historical clothing and Fashion magazines. Drafting
patterns from these two sources and then making them up. I also

Monette De Lozier
Monette De Lozier has been reproducing historical clothing since
1987. Many of the garments that she has made have won top
honors in competitions across the nation. She started sewing at a
young age, making many of the garments she and her sister wore
to school. Knowing the importance of sewing skills, she taught her
daughter, Jackie Wakeling to sew at a young age as well.
Throughout her life, Monette has had a variety of sewing
businesses. Everything from modern street wear to elaborate bridal
gowns. In 1988, Monette and Jackie started a company together,
Past Reflections. Since then Monette has reproduced Historical
Clothing for customers in the United States, Canada, Germany,
and Switzerland. Some of her other customer clientele are Movie
Companies, National Park Service and Museums.
Monette has also work with Local Museums researching 19th
century clothing. Many of the research projects have ended up as
patterns that are used in reproducing the Historical clothing that is
sold by Past Reflections. She has also helped co-ordinate
Historical Fashion Shows that are presented by Past Reflections.
