The National Park Service has been making some trades designed at least in part to place some cannon where they have some historical nexus. The Index by Bore Diameter, on The Encyclopedia of Civil War Artillery, has been brought up to date. On this first anniversary of the debut of the Encyclopedia, we have illustrated or described 147 types of ordnance, about two-thirds of the total, and we have had over 18,000 visitors. My heartiest thanks to Wayne Stark for his generosity in sharing this with an enthusiastic readership. - 1/31/00
